The challenge
A first ground-up home is where a builder either learns to finish or learns to hide. The test is not opening day. It is whether the house still looks like itself decades later.
The vision
A house built well enough that it would not need to be explained or constantly repaired. Simple in the ways that last; careful in the places that fail first.
The strategy
Build as if you will see the house again. Details that shed water. Joints that can be maintained. A structure that does not rely on hope.
The construction
Completed in 2003. The principal still describes it the same way: it looks like the day it was built. That is not a slogan. It is the standard we use on new Gulf Coast homes, where sun, salt, and wind are less forgiving than marketing photographs.
The result
A house that aged as it was built — which is the only honest definition of quality in this trade.
