Sarasota does not lack custom home builders. It lacks builders who will still be in the dirt when the photograph is no longer the point. Gulf & Key Construction is a field-first practice: the principal started in the trade as a child, built his first new home in 2003, and now builds on the Gulf Coast with that same standard.
New custom homes in the Sarasota area typically run from about $500,000 to $10 million. The number is the lot, the program, the coast, and the millwork — not a square-foot slogan. We discuss ranges once we understand those things. We do not invent a price for a house that has not been defined.
A custom home here is a climate project. Wind, flood, salt, soils, HOA rules, and the slow violence of sun are not 'later.' They belong in the first conversation, next to the kitchen and the view.
We coordinate architecture and design; we do not pretend to replace your architect. When you come without a design team, we can run a design-build path. When you come with one, we protect the drawings in the field.
